When I began planning Hayden's Minnie Mouse party, I started looking at invitation ideas. I found a few really cute ones on Etsy but I didn't want to spend a lot of money. After getting my inspiration from a few of them, I decided to try my hand at making them myself. They turned out to be really easy!
For my Minnie stencil I went with a light colored card stock so it would be easy to see against the black paper. I drew a large circle for the face and then eyeballed where to put the first ear. In order to have the second ear match up, I set the edge of the stencil against the bottom of the smaller circle and made a pencil mark on the opposite side. It took me a try or two before I had it perfect.
After my Minnie looked the way I wanted, I cut it out and had my stencil. I placed it on black card stock and cut out A LOT of them!
Now my Minnie's were ready for bows! I bought red ribbon with white polka dots, made my bows and hot glued them to the top of the cut out.
For the wording, I went to DaFont.com and downloaded the Disney font for free, it's called Waltograph. In Microsoft Word I created circles that would fit within my Minnie face and added a text box, typed what I wanted in my invitations and voila! I cut them out and glued them onto the center of the black cut-out. They were so easy and turned out just as cute as if I'd paid a lot of money. I hope these gave you some inspiration for your next DIY invitation attempt!
