For my sister-in-law's bridal shower her maid of honor asked me to decorate a wood letter "C" for Chelsea and "U" for her soon-to-be last name. She wanted the C to be sparkly and the "U" to be more manly. Her colors are ivory and wine so I went to my favorite craft shop Michael's and filled my basket. The letters were just a few dollars each. They were painted white so before I could paint them, I had to sand them down slightly so the paint would stick correctly. I bought a small bottle of Americana acrylic paint in ivory and cranberry wine and two 1" Art Minds foam brushes. I put down a piece of wax paper before I started painting so the letter wouldn't stick on the back. The paint dried very quickly so I didn't have to wait long to do my second coat. The slightly streaked look of the "U" was what I was going for so I didn't add another coat.
The "U" was done and now onto the "C"! I bought 8 packages of Darice self-stick rhinestones in clear. I used two sizes, the 5mm and the 7mm. I started at the top and just eyeballed where I wanted them, making sure to change it up between the two sizes.
If you need to remove one of the rhinestones to re-position it just make sure you do it right away so it's easier to pull off.
Done! Chelsea's maid of honor did a beautiful job with her bridal shower! Here are a few pics of the finished product. Happy designing! I also sell these in my shop on Etsy if you like the look but don't want to go the DIY route.
